Abdel Aziz Belal, MD, President and Founder of the Alexandria Ear Hospital and Alex Ear Centers, has consistently been recognized as one the “Best Physicians in the Middle East.” He is the former, dean of Alexandria Medical School and chairman of the board of Alexandria University Hospital’s (2003-2008), where he was involved in the education of 7000 medical students, and in medical research and health care for a population of 10 million people.

Aziz managed a 500 million Egyptian Pound budget per year allocated to health care, and the development of new health care projects. He played a key role in accreditation, medical informatics, quality control, infection control, medical insurance, and medical tourism. He is currently the president of Future Health Society, an NGO organization involved in the future prospects of healthcare, health education and research.

Aziz began his career practicing medicine at Harvard Medical School and University of Southern California, followed by El Maghraby Hospital in Saudi Arabia, where he practiced ear, nose and throat surgery, eventually performing surgeries in almost every country in the Middle East. He is reputed as the best ear surgeon in the Middle East and is the only surgeon in the region to be honored with the membership in the American Otological Society.

He is a member of numerous international ear, nose and throat societies. He has published over 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and four books. He is chairman of the Alexandria Ear Hospital, a specialized private hospital, and a shareholder and medical consultant in many local and international health care and pharmaceutical companies.

Aziz received his M.D. in medicine (distinction, first class honors) in 1968 from University of Alexandria and a PhD from Harvard Medical School in 1975.
